In 2021, I completed a PhD in philosophy conjointly with the Institute for Christian Studies in Toronto and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where I researched the intersections of religious studies, colonialism, politics, and media theory. I also teach online courses on things like Christian anti-capitalism, Christianity and Marxism, and prison abolition.
Alongside my academic work, I serve as a section editor at Geez Magazine, and do occasional freelance pieces which have been published in places like America Magazine, Sojourners, and Commonweal Magazine. I’m available for freelance writing, just send me an email at ddettloff@icscanada.edu!
